Sheinbaum's Assemblies: A Celebrated Event with Controversy

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, had a peculiar moment during an event where she was with politicians and other important figures. In a video, Sheinbaum is seen walking behind a group taking a photo, which included figures like Adán Augusto López, Ricardo Monreal, Andrés López Beltrán, Luisa María Alcalde, Carlos Puente, and Manuel Velasco. At that moment, the president gave a pat to the son of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who tried to stop her to greet her, unsuccessfully.

"Even though we reached an agreement through dialogue, which is very important and essential, the call was very good, the people were there to defend sovereignty and, as I said at the beginning of the speech, we are one, government and people," Sheinbaum stated, focusing her speech on highlighting the support received during the assembly with business leaders and governors, except for the governor of Chihuahua, who could not attend for health reasons.

Considering the media attention generated by the incident, the president expressed: "They were distracted," referring to the Morena leaders who ignored her presence in the photo to greet Andy López. Despite the backlash on social media, both Velasco, Monreal, and López Hernández later apologized, citing the emotion of the moment and their distraction.

From the Zócalo Capitalino, Sheinbaum sought to downplay the controversy, suggesting that the incident was of little relevance. When questioned about it, the president laughed and replied: "It's minor, really," without adding further clarifications. The situation, which spread quickly and generated comments on social media, took a prominent place in media coverage, but Sheinbaum preferred not to give it much importance.
